General Statute 115D-5(b) authorizes the State Board of Community Colleges to provide for a waiver of registration fees for specific groups, including personnel and volunteers of public safety agencies. Waivers for public safety personnel and volunteers is a significant component of our state’s strategy to ensure that we have highly trained emergency responders statewide. In this session, we will provide an overview of each public safety waiver classification; discuss recent updates to the System’s Tuition and Registration Fee Waiver Reference Guide; and allow time for questions.We will also focus on the necessary balance between compliance and customer service, as colleges identify and meet the important training needs of our state’s emergency responders.
